This duo consisting of Allison
Lindsay and Arno Verstappen have a fine music background.
Allison is a teacher at Sabine Institute for Vocal Strengthening and Development
(famous for coaching people like Axl Rose and Dave Mustaine)
and Arno has a degree at Guitar Institute of Technology in Los
Angeles, CA. Plus additional guest musicians (who played for bands like Sheryl Crow, Steve Vai and Alice Cooper): Fernand
Bos (bass), Toss Panos (drums and percussion) and Wayne
Cook (grand piano and Hammond B3). Their sound as the title suggests is
unplugged, US driven pop rock with a bluesy feel due to the guitar work, but I
felt some hints of folk music too. It's fated to be a winner in coffee houses and small
bars around the globe. The kind of stuff to enjoy while drinking a beer and relaxing after
a hard day of work. Allison's voice makes me think of Heart's Ann
Wilson and Arno's style (he's also the main songwriter) is very special, very
unique, exact. The other players provide a good foundation for the couple to run wild and
free! The lyrics are cool (sometimes sad songs), my favorite one is "It's my life"
which talks about being a non mainstream professional like a musician or mag writer for
example, the kind of it's not your business what I do for a living.
Very good job and I look forward to hearing them deal with some guitar overdrives and
delays, pounding drums... I mean heavier stuff for the next album. I think a star
is born...
