The best AOR/Pomp there is!
CLASSIC AORChallenge- Acoustic Universe
Just like the cd title tells us, this is an entirely acoustic cd from 1996. I'm talking about a great cd to give us the rest we all need from time to time and even if you don't need to find this, this is still a great cd to listen to! The band Challenge is from L.A., but I must say I'm proud that half of the band originally comes from my country. Songwriter, guitarist Arno Verstappen moved to L.A. some years ago, to study at the Guitar Institute of Technology. After graduating this, he decided to stay in L.A. to form a band where he found the brilliant female vocalist Allison Lindsay who teaches vocals at the Sabine Institute in L.A....and what else can I say, this voice is superb. As an AOR fan maybe the only thing is the absence of an electric guitar on this 10 track cd, and I wonder how great songs like "when love finds a fool" and "wake into daylight" would sound if they were played a little heavier, but at the same time the acoustic versions does have its charm. With the help of some musicians, who played and toured with big names, (Cheryl Crow and Steve Vai) Challenge made this acoustic cd and well, I must say, this is a fantastic recommendable cd with great melody and beautiful lyrics.
